A man identified as Abodunde Solomon has reportedly fled after allegedly attacking his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity in Ondo State.

The incident was said to have occurred in Supare-Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of the state.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect allegedly descended on his wife after accusing her of being unfaithful, inflicting severe injuries on her during the attack.

A source familiar with the incident said the allegation reportedly enraged the man, leading to the violent assault.

“The woman sustained serious injuries, with blood gushing from her body after the attack. Immediately after committing the act, the man ran away. They have children who are currently in secondary school,” the source disclosed.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Jimoh Kazeem, said it was reported to the police as a case of domestic violence and grievous harm.

He explained that the suspect, who is the victim’s husband, allegedly used a cutlass on her, causing multiple injuries, before fleeing the area.

“The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical attention, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect, who is currently at large,” Kazeem said.

The police spokesperson added that the Commissioner of Police had cautioned residents of the state against all forms of violence, urging them to embrace peaceful means of resolving disputes, noting that violence often leads to grave consequences.
