A fresh crisis has reportedly erupted within the Progressive Governors Forum following the emergence of rival factions led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun.
The development is said to have deepened divisions among governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reports indicated that the crisis escalated after Uzodimma was allegedly removed as chairman of the forum during a closed-door political arrangement on Thursday.
However, the Imo governor was said to have rejected the move, insisting that he remained the authentic chairman of the governors’ forum.
Meanwhile, Abiodun, alongside Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is reportedly leading another faction within the body.
Sources within the ruling party disclosed that another bloc of governors had also aligned with the Abiodun-AbdulRazaq camp, further widening the crack within the forum.
The disagreement is believed to be connected to internal struggles over leadership control and political positioning ahead of the next election cycle.
According to reports monitored on ARISE TV, tensions among members of the forum had been mounting in recent weeks, although details of the dispute had yet to be officially disclosed.
As of the time of filing this report, neither faction had released a formal statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the division.
