The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, says it has deployed 1,100 officials in various parts of the state for the forthcoming Easter celebration. The state’s commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, said this in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSC Aidamenbor Daniel, on Tuesday in Akure. An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 24- year-old man, Ebuka Ibe, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his neighbour. The Magistrate, F. D Hughes, did not take Ibe’s plea for want in jurisdiction. She adjourned the case until April 17 for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution. Ibe, who resides in 16, Eyitayo St., Ajao Estate, Lagos, is charged with rape. A Kano High Court sitting on Tuesday sentenced a Chinese national, Frank Geng-Quangrong, 47, to death by hanging for stabbing his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani, 22, to death. Mr Geng-Quangrong, who lives in Railway Quarters Kano, was convicted on one-count charge of culpable homicide. The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps plans deployment of over 900 personnel for a special patrol during Easter to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
