The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has lauded the state government for deeming it fit to create a special court to try cult-related cases in the state. The Leprosy Mission Nigeria has disclosed that nearly 2, 500 new cases of leprosy are discovered annually in Nigeria. The National Director of the mission in Nigeria, Dr Sunday Udo, made the disclosure at the mission’s Open Minds Project close-out meeting on Tuesday in Abuja. The Open Minds project is a four-year mental health project initiative focused on young people affected by leprosy and Neglected Tropical Diseases. Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Lagos State High Court, on Monday gave the interim ex parte order in a suit marked FHC/L/CS/881/2024 filed by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria. NERC in April approved the hike in the electricity tariff from N66 to N225 per kilowatt (kW) for customers in Band, who are receiving 20 hours of electricity supply daily. Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, said that introducing Band A with a higher tariff reduced electricity subsidy to N1 trillion from about N3 trillion. The minister said this at Tuesday’s public hearing on electricity tariffs in Abuja. The House of Representatives Joint Committee on Power, Commerce, National Planning, and Delegated Legislation organised the hearing.
