An Area Court in Jos, Plateau State, on Thursday sentenced a man, Annas Inusa, to nine months imprisonment for stealing a wristwatch and a ring worth N 25,000. The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence. A Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State on Thursday, sentenced a 40-year-old unemployed man, Chibuzo Emmanuel, to three years imprisonment for receiving stolen train batteries and cylinders. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp charged Emmanuel alongside Adamu Danbaba, 52, with theft and receiving stolen property. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday warned the public of the increasing trend of cholera cases across the country as the rainy season intensifies. The NCDC, in a statement signed by its Director General, Dr Jide Idris, said from January 1st to June 11th, 2024, a total of 1,141 suspected and 65 confirmed cases of cholera with 30 deaths have been reported from 96 LGAs in 30 states. No fewer than 26 persons have been arrested in connection with a robbery incident in the Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, where jewellery, cash and other valuable items were carted away by the robbers. Yusuf Adenoyin, a suspected ritualist, has been nabbed with eight human skulls by the security agencies at Isua Akoko, in the Akoko South-East LGA. Mr Adenoyin, 37, was arrested at one of the checkpoints between the Isua and Epinmi in a Nissan car en route from Akure to Osogbo.
