The Anambra State Police Command has disrupted a cult initiation ceremony in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area, arresting six suspects in the process.
The operation, carried out on June 15, 2025, was based on intelligence gathered by the police.
According to a statement released Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, officers recovered several items during the raid, including a pump-action rifle, two live cartridges, two cutlasses, a Lexus SUV, charms, and substances suspected to be drugs.
The arrested individuals, all male and aged between 20 and 30, were identified as Nwadike Chibuike, Anierobi Precious, Raphael Ebube, Ezechi Benjamin, Okafor Chidera, and Chiema Okoye.
Ikenga stated that the suspects are currently being interrogated to uncover more about their activities and affiliations.
Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the case will be taken to court.
The police emphasized their ongoing efforts to combat cultism, which they described as a gateway to other serious crimes in the state.
