The Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged members of the newly formed opposition coalition in the state to respect the party’s existing structure and properly register through the appropriate channels.
The ADC-led coalition, inaugurated last week in Akure, includes top figures from various political parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and others.
Speaking on the development, the ADC governorship candidate for the upcoming November 16 election, Adeyemi Nejo, released a statement on Sunday reaffirming that the party’s structure in Ondo remains fully intact.
He stressed that no positions within the ADC had been allocated to any coalition member.
Nejo advised coalition members seeking to join the ADC to first register at their respective local government areas and wards in line with party procedures.
“This statement is intended to clarify the current status of the ADC’s structure and guide coalition members on proper integration into our party,” Nejo stated.
He further emphasized that the party’s leadership, from the state chairman to the local government and ward executives, remains unchanged and constitutionally recognized.
“There is no provision in the ADC’s constitution for roles such as ‘state coordinator’ or ‘LGA coordinators.’
The only acknowledged structure includes the state chairman, LG chairmen, and ward executives,” he added.
Nejo called on coalition leaders to guide their members toward formal registration with the ADC at the grassroots level to promote unity and ensure smooth integration.
“This process is essential for building a united and effective party that truly represents the hopes and aspirations of the people of Ondo State,” he said.
