Two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), who were declared missing three weeks ago, have been found dead.
The victims, identified as Andrel Eloho Okah from the Department of History and International Studies and John Friday Abba from the Department of Economics, were both in their second year at the Ondo State-owned university.
Their decomposing bodies were discovered over the weekend in a bush along the Akoko–Ekiti border area.
The students were reported missing by their coursemates after they failed to show up for academic activities for over a week. Concerned colleagues launched a search and subsequently involved the police.
A security source who spoke under anonymity confirmed the grim discovery on Sunday. “It’s unfortunate, but the two students have been killed by suspected abductors.
Their bodies were recovered from a remote location in the bush. Security personnel are already on-site,” the source revealed.
An AAUA student who also confirmed the incident described the atmosphere on campus as one of deep mourning. “Their deaths have cast a shadow over the university. It’s a dark moment for all of us,” the student said.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, said he would provide an update on the situation soon.
The mysterious disappearance of the two 200-level students had drawn widespread concern among students and the university community before this heartbreaking outcome.
