The Niger State Police Command has begun a manhunt for four armed robbers who trailed a bank customer in Minna and dispossessed him of cash shortly after he left a bank on Monday morning.
The incident occurred around Tunga Market when the victim, driving a Mercedes Benz, was intercepted by the suspects in an ash-coloured Toyota Camry.
The gang reportedly blocked his vehicle near the Old City Gate area and carted away an undisclosed sum of money.
Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, said the state Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, had ordered a thorough investigation and directed tactical teams to track down the culprits.
“Today, 8th September 2025, at about 8:45 a.m., a report indicated that four men in a Toyota Camry blocked a Mercedes Benz vehicle around Tunga Market, Minna, and robbed the occupant of an undisclosed sum of money,” Abiodun stated.
He added that police patrol teams had been placed on alert and that the Area Commander in Minna and the DPO Tudun-Wada Division had been tasked with leading the operation to arrest the suspects.
The victim, according to the police, has also been advised to file an official complaint to aid the investigation.
