A 45-year-old man, yet to be identified, has been rescued from a deep well in the Odo-Ogbo, Oja Agbe area of Iseyin, Oyo State.
It was gathered that the man reportedly fell into the well on Wednesday night and was pulled out by operatives of the Oyo State Fire Service on Thursday morning.
Chairman of the State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, who confirmed the incident, said the rescue operation began at about 9:04 a.m. after the agency received a distress call.
He said officers from the Iseyin Fire Station were immediately mobilised to the scene, where they deployed specialised rescue equipment to bring out the victim.
Akinwande said the man was later handed over to policemen from the Okutapemo Divisional Headquarters in Iseyin.
“Our officers quickly swung into action using appropriate rescue tools.
The man, about 45 years old, was successfully brought out of the well and handed over to the police,” he stated.
He urged residents to ensure wells and other open water sources are properly covered to prevent similar incidents
