Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State have adopted consensus candidates for the Oyo North Senatorial District as well as federal and selected state constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The resolution was reached at a strategic meeting held in Ibadan, attended by Governor Seyi Makinde, the state party chairman and other prominent leaders from the Oke-Ogun axis.

Party insiders said the consensus arrangement was designed to foster unity, reduce internal disputes and strengthen the party’s chances of retaining and expanding its foothold in the zone.

For the Oyo North Senatorial District, stakeholders settled for businessman and former lawmaker, Shina Peller.

At the House of Representatives level, the party adopted Oyedeji Oyeshina for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency; Abiodun Oni for Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency; and Niyi Adebisi for Saki East/Saki West/Atisbo Federal Constituency.

Similarly, for the state constituencies, the PDP endorsed Sanjo Adedoyin for Ogbomoso South, Ayinde Sarafadeen Sassay for Irepo/Olorunsogo, Jimoh Adisa Olabisi for Oorelope, Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo for Saki West, and Bisi Oluranti for Ogbomoso South.

Sources within the party indicated that consultations were ongoing in other constituencies, with further announcements expected in due course.
