The factional National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday approved a 13-member caretaker committee to steer the affairs of the party, with former minister, Tanimu Turaki (SAN), named as chairman.
The resolution was reached during the group’s 103rd NEC meeting held in Abuja, following a motion moved by the Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, and seconded by an ex officio member of the party, Clement Fagboyede.
As part of the appointments, Taofeek Arapaja was named National Secretary of the committee, alongside other members including Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi, and Okechukwu Obiechina.
The development confirms earlier indications that the Makinde-led faction would unveil Turaki to head the caretaker body amid ongoing internal disagreements within the party.
The caretaker committee is expected to oversee the party’s activities pending the resolution of the leadership crisis.
