Primary: ‘While we’re waiting for collation, winner was announced’ – APC aspirant alleges

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has raised concerns over the conduct of the party’s governorship primary, alleging irregularities in parts of the exercise.

Haske, in a statement issued after the primary election, claimed that proper collation did not take place in some local government areas before the eventual declaration of a winner.

According to him, members of his team were allegedly denied access to the collation process before the announcement of the results.

“It was surprising that while we were waiting for the collation of votes to take place, the winner was suddenly declared,” he stated.

The aspirant added that his camp had compiled its own records from the exercise and would consult further before deciding on its next line of action.

“We have our data and we will consult and make our position known after due deliberations,” he said.

Haske stressed that transparency and fairness remained critical to the credibility of party primaries and the internal democratic process.

“The integrity of the process is just as important as the outcome. Transparent and inclusive procedures are necessary to sustain trust and confidence within the party,” he added.

He, however, urged his supporters across the state to remain calm and peaceful while consultations continue with party stakeholders and leaders.

“As responsible democrats, we are engaging in wide consultations to review the exercise and consider all lawful options available to us,” he stated.

The aspirant also appreciated party members and supporters for standing by him throughout the primary process and reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling party.

The APC is yet to officially react to the allegations raised by the governorship aspirant.
