A House of Representatives aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the Akoko South East/Akoko South West Federal Constituency, Oluwaseun Ajongbolo, has called on the leadership of the party to strengthen transparency, accountability and internal dialogue in the conduct of its affairs, warning that a lack of openness could weaken party cohesion.
Ajongbolo made the call on Sunday while reacting to recent developments surrounding the APC primary process in Ondo State.
Rather than dwell on personal grievances, the aspirant stressed the need for broader institutional reforms capable of deepening confidence among party members and preserving unity within the APC.
He noted that transparency and openness remained critical pillars for any democratic institution, particularly a ruling party entrusted with national leadership responsibilities.
According to him, party members and aspirants deserve clear communication and timely explanations regarding decisions affecting their political participation.
Ajongbolo said the absence of adequate engagement between party leaders and stakeholders could create what he described as a “dialogue deficit,” warning that poor communication within political structures often breeds mistrust and avoidable tensions.
He maintained that accountability and responsiveness were essential to sustaining confidence in the party’s internal democratic mechanisms.
The aspirant added that providing explanations on sensitive decisions would not only strengthen trust but also reinforce the credibility of the party’s processes.
Ajongbolo further advised the APC leadership to prioritise consolidation within the party by carrying members along and ensuring that differing opinions were accommodated in the interest of unity and stability.
He also advocated continuous improvement of party procedures and institutional reforms aimed at entrenching fairness, predictability and due process in future exercises.
The politician linked strong internal democracy within the APC to the broader national agenda of sustaining development, strengthening security and promoting economic growth under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, a united and stable ruling party would be better positioned to support policies capable of advancing national development and delivering good governance to Nigerians.
Ajongbolo urged party faithful and his supporters across the constituency to remain peaceful, loyal and committed to the collective progress of the APC.
Finally, Ajongbolo stressed the need for party members to return to the working table with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to continue efforts at building the Nigeria of their dreams, while also mobilising support for the APC and all its candidates ahead of the general elections to ensure victory in all contested seats.
